I also have crossover and the wire on mine is brown too. I have recently taken the tank out and replaced the sender unit in mine. Also replaced the wire from the tank to the dash and it all now works fine and is steady.

Thanks very much for your reply, we had wired up wrong. The clock now works as well as the gauge for the first time in years. Always a bonus to know when it's coffee time!

Having gone to all the trouble of dropping the engine out partly to put in a new sender unit and clean out the tank etc., we are almost ready to go. This weekend's step backwards was that the petrol gauge seems to be working in reverse. When we put a new loom in and reconnected everything back...

Has anybody cut a hole in the top of a camper rear shelf/bulkhead to change the fuel tank sender, rather than take the engine/tank out? Is it feasible?

Thanks Ozziedog, I didn't change the pushrod, though it is the right length for the pump. It is probably the original one so will be worn. So I guess it's another job to add to the list. 😩

As usual it's one step forward and six back in getting the van on the road. Old fuel pump was leaking as the seal had gone in the top section (original old one with the screw on the top). Can't get the seals any more so bought a new pump. Engine runs great now the carb settings are all...
