Engine bay solid yellow wire identification on 72 crossover

I have a friend who has the same year bus so I took a peek in the engine bay, and he had the exact same setup: a brown combined with a yellow wire that was grounded at the bottom of the D-pillar. His van has not been touched either with everything still original, including the yellow/red test...

Engine bay solid yellow wire identification on 72 crossover

There was no evidence of one. This yellow wire comes out of the loom just as neatly as the ground wire so I don't think a PO added this extra wire. Cheers

Engine bay solid yellow wire identification on 72 crossover

Hello everyone, I could do with some help identifying a solid yellow wire in the engine bay of my 72 crossover (UK). The yellow wire exits the rear harness, with a thicker ground wire near the right D-pillar. The PO had wired these two together into one ground spade, but I'm not confident it...

Westfalia T25 swivel bases in a 72 crossover

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble finding any info on if T25 westfalia swivel bases can be added on to an early bay tub. I understand they would need welding onto the tubs, but I'm not sure how much fabrication would be involved to make them fit if it is required. I don't want to buy the plates...

    Fuel tank venting system

Hello all, I have a 72 crossover that I'm restoring, and I'm in the process of untangling the PO's changes. I found couple issues with the fuel vent system. The first is that the PO blocked off all venting from the tank. The two lines from each side of the tank eventually join together to form...

Full flow setup without using pump cover

thanks Mike, I appreciate your experience. Now I'm torn between going ahead with these modifications, or saving up and buying a new case after reading about the magnesium vs aluminium differences and reusing old mag cases. If I was to buy a new alu case, would this one be recommended...

Full flow setup without using pump cover

Cheers guys for the info. I remember when removing the moustache bar, that only 2 of the 3 bolts were attaching it to the adapter plate (bottom and right ear bolts when looking at the pulley). Looking again, I have the proper engine case boss for the moustache bar on the left side only. I can't...

Full flow setup without using pump cover

Hey guys, I've torn down the engine from my new van, and I'm seeing scored bearings and crank journals, as well as a previous line bore (.5mm/.020"). I want to drill and tap the case for a full flow setup, and minimise any future wear. The catch is that the engine uses an adapter plate for...

Increased power in type 1 1584 AE engine

Thanks for all the great information, and my apologies for the very late reply. I have been caught up in other things. Setup wise, I have decided to go with the following for my 1776cc: - 90.5mm barrels and pistons - stock 69mm crank - stock heads: mildly ported with 3 angle valve job - Engle...

Increased power in type 1 1584 AE engine

Thanks for the replyy StuF. I've seen kits for 90.5mm pistons and cylinders that replace the stock 85.5mm ones. Can the crankcase be modified in such a way to safely accept those...

Increased power in type 1 1584 AE engine

Hello everyone. I've recently bought a T2 so now can offically ask all the experts for advice about my bus! I have a 72 crossover model (Floss), with a type 1, single carb 1584 AE engine, that I got for pleasure and also a business project I'm working on. I will be doing a lot of towing, and...
