    Smell of fuel inside campervan

I had occasional whiff of petrol and I traced mine to a faulty shut off valve on the carb. So, when I stopped engine some fuel continued to trickle through the carb.

    Solex Butterfly Alignment

I have taken the spindle out to rebush my 34 Pict 3 and removed the butterfly. I omitted to note its correct position ! and see it has silver dot and then two arched indentations on the rim. Can any advise please correct alignment for reassembly. Many thanks John

    Starting issue

Just a thought to do a brief test....squirt some Easy Start into carb/air filter. If it starts easy then your prob may be within the carb internals...if that makes sense.

    Hot weather fuel problems?

I had a similar issue ....mine was tiny speck of dirt on the pilot jet. V easy to remove, it's on r/h side of carb looking from rear. Unscrew it, clean it and screw back in. It needs no adjustment.

    Gear selection adjustment ?

If it helps it took me a while of minor adjustments to the plate to get gear selection spot on. A small movement seems to translate to a bigger movement by the time it gets to the gear box ! Not sure if it made a difference but I put my old plate back on.

    New user guide

A nice new good fitting/sealing petrol cap might be worth it too. Mine pongs a bit after filling especially if I don't seat the cap properly. If engine is out any time take opportunity to change the breathing tubes and filler neck.

    Engine question…

My mate had a similar issue in his 2cv and he fixed it by putting in a slightly larger main jet in the carb.

    Van won't start !!

Just another thought would the rubber connectors on the inlet manifold if perished also cause a starting problem ?
