Totally agree mate, the type 4 came with its own transmission as well so it’s not that a hard install, yes definitely more costly but I do like to build engines as well, I do get a kick out of it and besides the type 4 crank to flywheel connection is sooooo much better than the type 1. Besides...

Ok so now I’m probably thinking to Far ahead, heads? But as far a crank and rods go they are factory forged and so they are definitely staying, lightening forgings is difficult as heat ruins the metallurgical structure so that will be a challenge but the biral cylinders and hyperutectic pistons...

so I do have an update, So now I’ve split the cases, it was unavoidable as the big ends had play (rocking sideways as opposed to sliding sideways, there’s a big difference) and so the con rods were rocking out medicating excessive bearing wear, actually at the time the cases were still together...

    Engine overheating?

thanks for the great advice, I’ve been researching hi and low and have come up with a game plan of my own, here is roughly how it will go. 1)Biral cylinders, cast liners with aluminium fins 2)Hyperutectic pistons, slipper type for less friction as opposed to a full skirted piston. 3) two oil...
