    Garages - advice please!

When we bought our last house I was excited when I saw it had a pit in the garage, even though at the time I didn't have a van. Then once I got the van I never used the pit, my van is stock height tho so I can get under the van on my back easily enough, yes a pit would have made it much easier...

    Dormobile and leisure battery questions

If your disconnecting the gas bottle after use it's less of a concern but on the front of the bulkhead there would normally be an isolation valve with a long paddle type handle that sticks out so if the cooker is folded away with the gas still on it won't fold back far enough for the seat to go...

    Dormobile and leisure battery questions

I'm on my second Dormobile and both have used the cupboard behind the driver to store the gas bottle. My first dormie was plumbed in with a hard line running from the front of the cupboard under the walkthrough heater vents and in through the Pax side bulkhead. My current Dormobile stores the...

    Battery Isolator

No I don't believe so but I've noticed that the wire that should go from the relay to the top of the alternator (excitor) doesn't, instead it appears to go through to the front of the van but I'm struggling to trace it. The only reason I can think the wire would go to the front would be for a...

    Battery Isolator

My LB is only showing 12.1v with the engine running, whereas the starter battery reads 14. 4v At the split charge relay I get 14.4v at terminal 30 but just 12.1v at terminal 87. Does that tell me anything? I'm thinking my LB isn't charging but don't know how to investigate that. Any help...

    Battery Isolator

My leisure battery went flat over the winter, I think this was mostly because it's kippered and needs replacing, but it got me thinking about an isolator on the Leisure battery. Who's got an isolator fitted, show me some pictures.

    Cigarette lighter.installation ?

I have a similar set up, no pictures as I never actually finished it. I didn't want to have it permanently live so didn't use a switch instead was going down the route of an inline connector that I can just plug in when I want the light. If you do use a switch you'd want an inline fuse as well.

my 1971 danburyfalia pop top project

Agreed, yours had been an amazing story so far and there are plenty of us here who have been here long enough to be invested in the project along with you. The motivation has to come from the opportunity from creating memories, the end goal may seem like many man hours away, but the...

    A homely bus.

I agree with Gas1man and Matt84, I think for me, what makes it mine is the personalisation that makes the van suit my needs combined with the memories that have been created in it. My old van had my blood sweat and tears in it, I drove 15,000 miles round Europe in it, so that van had my...

Lowering a bus to get in and out of a garage

My van is stock height with a dormobile roof and roof rack, I already have a relatively tall garage but needed 100 - 150mm extra height in the doorway to get the van through so I opted to swap the garage door from a standard up and over to a fully retracting door that goes up into the roof...

    Engine rebuild

I've never had a magnet in the sump before, but I assumed that's too much metal in the oil for a healthy engine? Plus the starter has been struggling to turn the engine and I can't move it by hand (with plugs in). I figured it's likely to be bearings starting to seize.

    Engine rebuild

I dropped the engine oil for the first time since getting the van prior to camping trips planning for this summer, after not getting round to it throughout spring, and now I wish I had done this way sooner: So half term camping next week will now be in the tent! Anyway, while the engine is...

    After 10yrs bye

I was in a similar situation myself ten years ago, and couldn't see how I'd get another van but now I have just bought a 70 Dormobile and the grin has come straight back. Instead of bye, go with Au Revior, "Until we meet again"!
