I read on here that due to the change in ratios on the later 6 rib gearbox that the engine does not reach the correct rpm to drive the cooling fan sufficient enough and this set up can lead to over heating. Has anyone experience of this or know of anyone who has? A change to a porsche fan and dog house may be required I believe.

There has been lots of discussion on this every time someone mentions getting a freeway flyer.

The people the claim it is a problem don't run them and the ones that run them don't complain of over heating. Normally you have an external oil filter and cooler. Plus the extra speed means extra air going in the vents and under the engine.

I will be running on very shortly.

I am sure you will now get 10 replies telling you that it is a huge issue.

Have a search on freeway flyer and you should be able to find a fair bit of discussion.

If the motor is built and tuned correctly it should not be a problem.

I have 1303s box in my bus and have driven plenty of miles and it hasn't been a problem. What I did have last week was carb freeze due to crusing at 70mph with cold air outside.

Damn AxlFoley, you unlucky. Thought you'd have learnt after the first time it happened.

the porsche 912 dynamo pulley is smaller and give's you some extra cooling speed ;)

Any gearbox with tall final gearing will reduce rpm but as mentioned above can be corrected with different size pulleys. Also rev range of your engine will be
a factor.
