Hi guys been lurking on here without posting pics of my project as its a bit of a dog !!!

Me and my Mrs got married this year at Alltypes VW festival in a drive through ceremony on don't tell the bride ( to be aired 21st October this year) in my mk1 golf, I've always been into Aircooled but since I sold my last beetle the prices have sky rocketed and I always thought it was out of reach !!! Until the wedding.........

I decided to spring one last surprise ............... I have spent our honey moon savings on a car...... bus !!!!!!!!!!! Luckily she didn't kill me for this although I think the bus has other ideas.

The buses name is Huey,he has come from Pacioma in north LA. I don't think his previous owners liked him that much as they have deleted all his early bay loveliness and painted him black !!!

So my task has been remove the black and make him look like an early bay again. Don't prod fun too hard as its the best I can afford and it's turning out rattier than I had hoped but hopefully everyone still thinks he's cool.

Excellent!
Brave man taking that on... Saw your bus up on ebay and was just a little bit horrified by the mods... especially that "piercing" in the rear 1/4! Looks like you're doing some sterling work there, uncovering the green and patching him up. Keep it up!

Hope you're happy with DTtB... Our friends did it a few years back and we weren't overly impressed with how they were portrayed. It's interesting how they edit the whole thing to get the storyline they want!

As Mike202 says. The green looks cool. Are you leaving the Prince Albert in its ass? By the way I know a Prince Albert is meant to be elsewhere.

Cheers for the support guys !!! Thought about keeping the piercing but decided to have it deleted !!! That's what my mate is sorting in one of the pics

That was one scary looking bus!! That piercing! Whatttt! Looking great now though

What are you using to get the black off? We are about to undertake a little paint removal ourselves...

Glad you are changing the bus to more standard as some of the changes made by the PO are questionable.....

Also, well done on the wedding and will watch the prog on tv next month :D

Thanks guys !!! Yeah most of the mods were done in California about 10 years ago at quite a famous place called way custom metal works !!!

It's been done to a good standard but at least it's solid !!!

I'm trying to put all the standard features back I'm going to struggle on the rear lamps as most of the mountings have been cut off although and plated over !!!

I have spent a few hours yesterday polishing and mopping the panels I have had to spay (rear wheel arches ) so should be a very fine line between new and old paint !!!

Looks very good so far and seems to be reasonably solid for a forty plus year old bus. I`m not sure if I might have kept the piercing just because it`s a little different, I don`t think I`d put one in but because it was already there, I`d have pondered for a while. Do like the green though, so keep it up ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I do likes different

Did do some pondering on the piercing as its a trade mark of way custom metal works but decided as I'm undoing most of there work I would take it out !!

I do still have the bar so might utilise it somewhere else as I don't want to totally loose his heritage !!
