1968 Volkswagen Type 2 Early Bay Tintop.
tax exempt, 12mths MOT
Originally from South Africa, this RHD bus was imported into the UK in 2005.
It was painted back then and was enjoyed by its owner for around 10yrs before being taken off the road.
The UK weather had taken its toll a bit, so its have just gone through another restoration.
The sills on both sides have been replaced, as have numerous chassis rails, and outriggers, its also had a few patches, a bit of filler and a respray in 2k Sky Blue paint which is a close match to the original South African colour.
The paint would benefit from a flatting with 2000 wet n dry and a polish in places, but is a decent coating.
There are still areas that could do with improving, but its a solid nice looking van that drives and stops well.
Lots of parts and seals inc new window and door seals, the doors being are genuine ones.
Partially re-trimmed inside, inc insulation to roof and sides.
Laminate floor, 1600w propex gas heater which has been input into the front heater pipes so exits out of the original vents.
Porsche Tombstone seats, Scat shifter, wooden steering wheel, oil temp, oil pressure and battery gauges.
Voltage sensing relay linked to 2 x 12v 17a additional batterys which provide power to the heater, stereo and LED lighting.
Good strong, low miles 1641cc engine with twin 34 webers, bolt on rocker covers ( think it has engle cams ), J tubes and bug pack exhaust.
alternator conversion oil breather/filler tower.
New sachs shocks all round, new clutch cable and bowden tube, fresh points and condenser.
Alloy wheels with good tyres.
Many other parts, seals etc fitted.
Straight through its MOT with no advisories.
Please note that the fuel gauge stopped working after I filled the tank up to the top, it had been working fine prior to this. Gauge tests OK so probably fault with sender or ground.
The oil pressure guage has also stopped working.
Moving house soon ( project money pit ) , so going tohave nowhere to put this or my other vans and will no doubt need the cash!
