Pulled over on the A1 early hours of this morning to help out a bay on the hard shoulder, well had a van full of tools but there was no helping this poor bus....

**** the noise from it and the fuel and oil being spat out the exhaust, think hes lost a valve, felt sorry for his missus who had 30 mins to catch her flight.....

hed not long broke the motor in, 1776, solex H30/31 :? , 2 grand and he couldnt get it over 65 on the motorway...

but the bus was looking sweet as a nut, hes somewhat pissed with the whole thing as hes had a few issues recently and this may just be the straw that breaks the camels back.....

Araon, you should have striked while the iron was hot! offered hime £2k to take it off his hands

I spend 2 hours a day on the A1 every day and i've seen quite a few broken down vans on the side of the road.

I would stop but my level of mechanical knolegdge is poor and i'd be no help what so ever.

Has anyone else noticed there was a late bay in a lock up just at the side of the A1?its been there for months and this morning it was gone!

Wonder if its getting a resto it looked pretty nailed!

Yeah Tofufi, what I thought, deffinately under carbed, to be honest he spent 2 grand and I cant see what on, granted the good bits are all consealed but that motor was looking like a stock 1600TP and sounding like a bag of nails...

I think hed have taken it at 4 this morning, not a happy chap, talking of getting shot of it and sueing the guy who built it...

To be honest he pulled it straight off the road as soon as it went so may be fortunate with a top end rebuild, but after talking to him and listening to that engine I'm thinking worse.....

Even a 1600TP should have a 34pict-3 carb, not a 30/31 - 1600SPs and below only!

Hope he perseveres :)

funny thing his is mechanic reconned it was his carb that killed his last engine......

he had a 1300 bug oil filled air filter too, I suspect he was canning it on the A1 to get his mrs to the airport (65 was tops on a slight decline)....then she went, really hope he gets on top of it as it was a sweet bus.....

I think someone needs a new mechanic, I pointed him in the direction of Monkeyspinner as hes reasonably local....
