Okay, I've now seen my engine in pieces. Matt and Mark carefully explained all the faults in detail for me. I'll start from the Oil pick up, then work my way up.
1. As I had a deep sump the standard oil pickup pipe was not long enough so the 'Airpseed Mokeys' welded a longer pipe in place and by the look of it did this when the case halves were assembled. In doing this they managed the fracture the pipe, creating holes and there were also traces of wire in the case. Because of this the pump would struggle and would ultimately starve the engine of oil.
2. The above didn't really matter too much as the oil pump was screwed. The gears had dragged through some metal or wire so the gears were chewed.
3. The Cam shaft was worn badly (needs replacing)
4. Cam followers were starting to break up, this was the result of the CAM burn not being run. I was assured this was done at Airspeed.
5. The flywheel seal was an incorrect item and was jammed in place.
6. Bearing location dowels were also incorrect and very loose.
7. Conrod nuts, engine case nuts not torqued up.
Along with the following, lower pulley (shocking quality) held on by 3 threads of the nut, Oil strainer incorrect and jammed into place, parts around the deep sump missing seals. That's all that I remember to be honest and there were plenty of other problems with the engine.
All in all the engine was not assembled with any care, parts were jammed in, loose, not torqued correctly, some parts were missing '**** it' the customer won't notice, a complete hash job, well pissed off! but I was actually laughing at how bad this was.
So, with a schtack of new parts Autotechniks are going to rebuild it for me and also ramp it up to a 1914cc at the same time, it won't be cheap but I completely trust Mark and Matt and appreciate their time and effort in helping me out.
Hope this helps.
