Just as the title says really, Im considering 17" Fuch alloys but would like to see a set on a eb first. Failing that a bay with any 17s. Can you still go low low or do you have to tub the arches?

As normal, any help will be greatly appreciated

if you want to go *low* low then you have to tub the arches regardless of what diameter rims you're rolling.

cue pantomime "oh no you don't"

"oh yes you do"

etc. etc.

thing is, how do YOU define *low* ?

a good way of demonstrating this is to jack your bus up to support it and then remove a front wheel. now, imagine it's low. real low. sitting on the floor in fact. you can represent the 'ground' by holding a plank between the bottom of the arch at the front, and the bottom of the sill at the back of the front wheel opening. now take your front wheel and rest it on that plank, and see how far up into the cab it would intrude.

'yikes'.

an extreme example i know, but tubs are like marmite.

sort of

lowered front and stock rear (which would go down anyway with engine and g/box.

with regards to the needing tubbed arches if you put large alloys on - this will be an issue whatever the wheels because its the over all diameter of the wheel not just the size of the alloy. you tend to try and keep the overall wheel diameter stock so your speedo is correct and the final gerabox ratio doesnt change.
