I cant compete with extreme slammed bus around at the mo....................So thought about going up in the air to be different :p

sort of like this, suttle, but not extreme to cutting the rear arches etc. However that will be the limiting factor on tyre choice I think.

I like the idea as its different and does give some plus points on front end crash protection and might help the gearing issue, ie no skin lower proflie rims,, bad points are it's probably back to wandering across 2 lanes of the motorway etc

the other things is i'm sort of old school where anything looks cool lowered, so not too sure, what do you reckon?

my bus is currently like this

you know , i'm sort of thinking that myself :| so dont hold back guys let me know what you think!

I love em .. dare to be different and all that .. BUT..

.. don't think i'd do it to my bus .. but i would buy one thats already been done ..

If that makes sense?! ;)

Hilly

if I lived in outback Australia, that would be the look I would want, with a roo bar and winch...not sure about Sussex though

Looks golden to me !! It has a proper Aussie look about it (I know it`s in Yankee land) very purposefull and business like, and apart from Motorways, I can`t see an issue, it`ll steer , brake, and handle rough ish terrain, It`s a winner

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,Can`t fit the fu**er in the garage though !! ;)

ha ha mint look 8)
im about to lift mine back to to the dizzy heights of stock
and chunky tyres too......... although ozzie makes a good point,,,,,,,,

i already had to carve a ruddy great flap in the top of my garage door to fit it in,,,,

as its a wooden one i can see me trying to jack the garage up too now

Dude , that is one of my favorite buses ever , I actually have more pictures of that bus on photobucket somewhere.
Around here all things Baja are very cool , the term Baja comes from Baja California, Mexico an area just south of San Diego known for it's rough terrain and all kinds of Off Road sports activities.
Of course I was born in Baja myself (Tijuana) so I was brought up with all kinds of lifted vehicles , heck even my mom drove a lifted Toyota 4X4 at one point in the '90s
Over here that bus would just blend in but on that side of the pond mate you will be the Arnold Schwarzenegger of the low light scene.
Do your nickname justice
Do it , do it , do it , do it , do it , do it , do it

I recon we will all be doing it to be 'different' soon............once everyone is slammed we will be lookin for the next new look

Just

Well its certainly different and will get more looks than yet another slammed bus - (if thats what you are looking for).

Having once driven a raised T2 some years ago, as I remember it, the motorway issue mentioned was not that bad. I think it was because, although the tyres were taller, they were also stiffer. I did notice more noise as a result of the chunky tread pattern - like on a 4x4 with similar tread.

Ultimately my advice is: its your bus, surely you should do what pleases you rather than what you think might please others? Why would you need their approval

IF YOUR GOING TO DO IT ,do it proper---------fully stickered up ect so it looks like it just came of a baja race .spare tyres on roof extra fuel cans ect ect :msn4: 8)

I love it - was thinking of the same myself! there's a few secret surf spots i cant get to in lowered bus!!

Hi,

Definatly a WIN, I recall a build thread of this bus on the samba, username was sxuxrxf here it is:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=175886&highlight=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
