Need a definative answer to this if anyone knows any help greatly appreciated :D

Whats the difference between all earlybay beams if any.

say a 67 68 69 70 71

I know there is difference but what are the actual differences?

Please help. 8)

I know you have said definite, so feel free to ignore this but from fitting a few early beams the only difference is that after Aug 69 they changed to a larger bolt pattern.

(The Pre August 67 KnL beam which are about 24 mm narrower also have the tubes closer together giving better ground clearance)

Good idea for a thread though....if people like me didn't jump in

No dood, all good, i knew that 68 and lower were different but didnt that it was 69 and lower so all good 8) Just thought there may be a few more like

So which K/L beam is a straight bolt on affair for my 1970 deluxe? 8)

As above^^^

You will need to match up the end plate mounts with the correct bolt pattern, you cant bolt a K&L beam "straight on" unless its been adapted. 8)

Thanks Dave,

The inner bushes will be special made, just like the original ones. Original they are from steel with a ceramic bushing. We will make these from steel with a special plastic " werkstof S1". Original the are hold-in by 3 dimples, were going to hold them with 3m8 bolds.
When i have a photo update i wil post them. The outside is milded to fit the original needle bearings. The tubing is a seamless precision tube (62mm x 3mm).
The side plates ar lasercut 10mm and wil fit split and bay.

At the moment i will make 3 beams 8)
(When there is intresed mail me)

Creative do a Stock width and Narrowed KnL beam which will bolt straight in. 55> 79.

Also there are Brazilian KnL beams which will bolt straight on to a Aug 69> , I think there is one for sale on here. You can also buy New Brazilian spindles which allow fitment for late discs.

So in theory you could drop a set of new spindles, add that to a new KnL beam and put them straight on to a Aug 69>. You may need a different steering idler arm as there are problems with fitting bay idler arms on to a split beam.

These are looking/sounding like a good quality beam.

That's what i'm achieving, only quality :D (creative beams are nice and quality, all other are not my kind off beams/quality (urethane bushings) so i'm making my own :p)

i've been wondering about this,i got myself a cb performance beam (2nd hand/2 months old with narrowed leaves) only the steering idler pin kit was missing. so i was wondering about compatibility between split/bay pin kits and split/bay pitman arms?

Project front beams is coming together :p
This week we will start welding. Only parts to make ar inner block's for the ajusters and steeringpin holders.
