Brake Pedal - Lateral Play

I noticed a fair bit of lateral play in my brake pedal. I jacked it up and there was a turn of the main brake pedal pivot bolt that I could turn, so that I did and it’s removed the play.

So, sorted, but I’m left wondering why after years of not touching it, why it’s happened?
I’ve never had to tighten one before.

Make sure its well lubricated , dry bearing will try to turn shaft.

Has the return spring eaten into the bushing?

Just revisiting this ... the play returned as the rest of the year went on, but I didn't use the van that much so lived with it. (Sorry etc)

I looked at it properly again this weekend, the main larger bolt that I tightened before was still ok, but it was actually the 13mm nut/bolt that fixes the pedal strut to the main linkage that was loose. Again, I've never had to look at this before, and if I'm honest, didn't even know it fitted like that.

Easy fix and one less thing worry about.

Use a Nylock nut or a dab of thread lock.
I've either used thread lock or anti-seize on every fastening on the deluxe.

If the bolt-thread is long enough, one might be able to use two nuts tightened against each other.
