Hi all

bought a westy bunk from someone off here last year just got round to fitting it and it's too narrow. Presume he sold me a splitty one.

So plan b as I go away was to get a bluebird one. But just been let down on that too. Not too.

Soo anyone recommend any alternative is the jk ones any good? Any other options?

Meant to go away next week and its all getting not fun. Thanks

I bought a JK one and the poles weren't long enough for the hole an mounts already in the van. So I ended up buying an original one with telescopic poles, poles worked put canvas was to narrow so had a new canvas made. First weekend away with it and the kids were fighting over it. Seems easy to knock the poles out thou when unwieghted, so need a fix for that.

Ooh maybe I could get some fabric stitched up. You don't have the jk one still? By any chance I've not drilled the van yet.

just had a chat to NLA. ordered one hopefully it will be here quick and should fit it this weekend too!

Installed the NLA one this weekend. Fairly disappointed with it. If I wasn't leaving on holiday I'd send it back.

The brackets are sold as exact same size as westy ones so you don't have to re drill. Wrong they are way out. Lucky some scrounging with mates I found a new set of westy ones so I could use existing holes.

Second the bars are crap the ends are bent as are westy ones but however they bend them leave them very brittle. One end broke on the first fit. Second broke when I put my 18 month on to try her new bed.

Needless to say she's scared now of going in it of fear it does it again.

Fabbed up new poles. So out of the whole kit all I'm using now is the canvas. Sad face. Save your money go for bluebird one

bloody great, didn't get round to fitting mine the weekend.

just had a look at it though and the poles do look *****,

the ends are covered in burrs and sharp edges, great for a kids bunk. Poor workmanship

Did you paint yours white?

I should have clarified ... I just used the canvas and sold the poles and brackets on ebay unused .... I didn't really look at them that much. I just thought the canvas was very good.

No they were painted already. And yes mine had lots of burrs and stands of metal from cutting still. Dangerous. I remade one pole so finished that properly the other had to de burr.

I'm sorry we have not replied earlier we have not been able to get onto forums for a while, due to our work load.

Thank you for the feed back on the dimensions on the brackets but I am more concerned by the failure of the end of the poles, obviously we do not want anyone falling out of the bunk and hurting themselves. The pictures you posted are very helpful and we will discuss, with the manufacturer, a lesser bend radius on the end of the poles to hopefully make this stronger. We will also request they pay closer attention to the burrs.

If you haven't been in touch already please give us a call and we will see what we can do for you.

Thanks again

Further to your comments we have spent time today cleaning up the burrs on the poles we have in stock.

Without this kind of feed back we would not have spotted this so again, thanks for the help in improving our products

We are looking at developing the "draw handle" style of brackets and we are also looking into the hole spacing, as this may be an error carried over from the Splitscreen brackets being wider. I'm sorry again for the inconvenience people have experienced

I fitted mine and used last week. Worked really well and my boy thought it was ace. Don't know about bracket dimensions because my bus had none originally.

nice job listening to feedback. Other than the the burrs been left on I was happy with it.

Great to hear you are happy with the bunk and that the young VW folks appreciate them to :D

We hope to get the burrs sorted completely on future batches and will be cleaning up this batch by hand (If only everything was as reliable as a Volkswagen :) )
