Hi all on Wednesday I plan on installing a CB to my van.
I have collated the kit and have decided where to put it. I'm interested to see and read about others people installs and how much they use them.

The CB I have is a one that my wife used as child back in Cornwall so it has a nice sentimental value to it along with being a nice retro number.

It's a Uniden 100 with the apparently harder to find black face.

Heres mine, bought a cheap hanger bracket off ebay and stuck it under the glove box, also got a magnetic hanger for the back of the airbox.

As for use ive listened in to a few truckers but as I keep my bus in the garage I tend to forget to stick the aerial on each time I take it out

Looks good nugsy. What make is the radio ? Do you keep your SWR meter plugged in all the time ?

Damn auto correct that's twice in as many days.

CB is a Fidelity CB 2000 FM
Got a stinger aerial with a mag mount.

I think the day the photo was taken, I was messing with the CB too and that's why the SWR is connected :D

Nice n handy, mic hangs off the mirror.

Not using it much as thought it was draining battery. Gonna hook it back up now though ;)

Ok cheers, i read something about keeping it in line but I am mounting my CB on ceiling/headliner so don't really want the SWR up there as well.

I think I saw the stinger In my local store, my bus has previously had an aerial mounted on the roof so I will utilise that hole.

Image not working dude

I finished the CB install this evening.
My dad came over last Wednesday and we cracked on with it.
I had do some research about my aerial because we couldn't get the SWR readings below 3 on Chanel 20.
So whilst hunting for no more than 1.5 on Chanel 1 and 2.5 on Chanel 40 we set about cutting the whip down. We took 35mm off in total and it got us in the range we wanted.
We then spent the next hour listening to some strange conversation and drinking tea!!! Thoroughly enjoy working with my dad on these projects.
If anyone should want to know the set up is as follows.
Uniden 100 CB
Sirio Omega 27 aerial
I have mounted the aerial in the rear portion of the roof in the centre as it had already been drilled in America and a CB acetal fitted.

Mines fitted by the drivers seat, Not used it much as i'm the only one i know who has one..!! LoL

That seems to be becoming my issue as well, apparently Northampton is busy but I'm 10 miles from that so can sometimes pick it up but not transmit.
Will be good to see what it's like when we are on the road.

How have you all got the aerial cable out of the cab past the door seal and does it exit at the top front or rear or at the bottom somewhere?

I've got a mag mount and just sit it on the roof with cable coming in between top rear corner of door. Don't have it on the roof all the time. :0)

Same as above mag mount on the roof, the aerial comes out the front top corner of the passenger door, It doesn't seem to affect the seal or damage the cable

Got a fidelity the Same as nugsy last week. What aerials are everyone using with there mag mounts?

Hi Zebedee,
I removed the wooden panels in the can and above sliding door (westy) and ran the aerial cable alongside the rear window dentist wires. I then used a factory hole to come out into the van and into the middle of the roof at the rear where the P/O in America had already drilled the roof and fitted a CB aerial.

not the best pic, but u can see it hanging here on the right,
using it pretty much with my buddy, (he has 1 in his bus aswell 8) )
