READVERTISED DUE TO E-BAY TIMEWASTER WHO WANTED A £6000 VAN FOR £2250 (the price the auction ended at)

1972 Crossover for sale. Starts and runs but cuts out, due to rust in the tank I'm guessing by the look of the fuel filter. The starter motor doesn't always mesh. Quite hard to move if not running, so I'd also guess at a sticky brake servo.

It has what I would imagine to be a Reimo or Bilbo's pop top, copied from Westfalia. It has a rear rock and roll bed, also like a Westy.

This is not the prettiest of vans in the world - it's a 20 yard van to be honest, but could probably be MOT'd with minimal work - predominately the engine running, the aforementioned brakes, plus anything that comes up welding wise - I'd imagine a small patch by the front O/S jacking point as there's a hole the size of a penny (in the bodywork). I havn't seen the van for a week or so, but think the O/S sill could do with a patch, if not a new sill.

Please note, the word minimal is used in the context of attaining an MOT, NOT to turn the van into a concours show winner.

Also looks like it has a rear arch over an existing arch on the O/S. Current paint was done about 3-4 years ago. I'm painting the most gruesome picture of this van I can as I hate going to see a van that's been billed as a dry state near concours vehicle only to find a rotten mess!! It's not actually too bad if I'm honest, and certainly looks presentable.

Interior is currently loose fitted due to welding undertaken by previous owner. PLEASE don;t think this is a van that's going to get an MOT with an hour's work, but at the same time, this isn't a vehicle that's in need of a total restoration, like some of the 'light projects' so often seen on e-bay.

I am open to sensible offers and have set the reserve at a realistic level. I can arrange delivery if needed at around 50p per mile (at cost to buyer).

As for welding to the underside - as stated above, I've not seen the van for a while, but it didn't strike me as being awful underneath. To be safe (and over critical so I don't lead you up the proverbial garden path), I would allow £200 for a day's welding - that way you should (hopefully) be pleasantly surprised when you go for an MOT, if not, you (should have) allowed a reasonable amount for welding. Hope this helps?!

It is on E-bay with a starting price of just 99p and a sensible reserve. I am very open to offers as it is in the way! I will be at the Holton classic in Poole this coming weekend if anyone wants to know more, if not, feel free to call me on 07970 490743.

Thats how ebay works, unless you had a reserve on it.

What?! I think you missed the point - I started the bidding at 99p and set a sensible reserve, which it reached. The winning bidder decided not to buy after the auction close. Not too sure what your point is? My point was that the van is a £2250, not a £6k van - probably not worded too well in initial post.

Exactly - I think it's sold now anyway, so no great shakes - at the end of the day, £500 should see it MOT'd even if someone was paid to do all the work, so it should be a cheap crossover bay for someone!

I kind of agree with Loxy as I read it differently as well...glad it sold still cant believe someone walked away at 2G....
Hope you raised a dispute with the buyer with ebay atleast get a resuse to pay strike against the name.
