Anyone else fitted a claxton horn to your bus ?

Where have u put it ? Under the front or maybe the engine bay?

How did u wire it up ? Using existing wires or separate leisure battery ?

Cool that's where it's gonna go then , under the front facing backwards !
My bus is a summer bus so it ain't gonna get rain n snow in the trumpet if I can help it ! :D

Fitted mine the same place, with existing wires, only mine points to the side rather than forwards.

I had one on mine in same place as original horn.
After 3 year it's just given up the ghost - I've now bought a truck horn
But too big to fit anywhere......
May have to route back to under the floorpan:)

I didn't know it was an mot fail till i took it, ive got 2 horns attached together and switch wires over at mot time

What's a mot fail?
Mine has passed both its mot's with the awwooogggaaa horn as the only one installed

I have copied the mot info from the .gov website - it would appear 01 Aug 1973 or earlier and you would be fine

MOT Test of Horn

Operation
Control can be easily reached by the driver
Loud enough
Not a sequential multi-tone.

Further Information

Pre 1906 vehicles can have a gong, bell or siren audible warning, provided they were designed before 1 January 1905 and constructed before 31 December 1905.

Reason for Rejection

The horn control missing, insecure or not readily accessible to the driver.

Note: Inform the driver if the horn is insecure.

Or the horn is

inoperative
is not loud enough to be heard by another road user
is a gong, bell or siren
has more than one tone

Note: When operated, a two or more tone horn automatically produces a sound which alternates at regular intervals between fixed notes

If fitted to a vehicle first used on or after 1 August 1973, emits a sound which is

Not continuous or uniform
Harsh or grating

He failed it last mot on the ooh-aarh horn, he had an old mazda one in the workshop what he gave me, 5 mins on the ramp and 2 horns now, he's a good lad and helps no-end, he also 'failed' the main beam pattern, i just don't drive in the dark as they say, i'll show him what youve posted next time i see him

Fitted the horn under the front this afternoon

Also decided to install new wireing front to back so I can leave the original horn as it is

Now starting to think about switches etc.

Was just looking around on interweb and I noticed some people put a relay in there horn setup.

Is this necessary ? I'm using a new set of wires taking them from the battery , fuse , switch , horn .

Same as others mr shippers, mounted at front with existing wiring. Passed mot..........
Very chuffing loud!!!

I fitted mine
I have descovered my original horn works ( thank goodness )
I fitted the claxton , new wires front to back , fuse switch horn battery , job done !
Guys on here tell me I need a relay but I weren't sure ?

Dad comes round n tells me I need a relay !

I'm wrong u guys r right !

I'll sort it next week
