Hi all,

I have an engine removed from a beetle, it's a 1600TP (with bus mounts as it's a universal case)

It's got the clutch and flywheel on, am I right in thinking I need to change them for an early bay one? Mine's a 71 deluxe (servo/disc brake year) - I can't figure it out from looking online there seems to be countless options!

It might be a 180mm clutch, you could use it, i did for a couple of years, but eventually went to a 200mm one, which it's supposed to be, the 180 slipped too much when heavy loaded in Devon with some of those hills

oh and depends on the release bearing type of the clutch you have, compared to your gearbox

Just an update after scratching my head and still finding no definitive answer -

This is the one that's from the beetle/on the replacement engine at current.

and this is the one that came off the engine I took from the bay:-

The bay one has loads of meat left on it so wouldn't mind switching them over - but will it fit the flywheel? are they all the same fitment or are they different?
