Convert Reverse lights to indicators.

I've done some reading but can't seem to find a definitive answer, I've got us spec tail red tail lights and I'm wanting to use the reverse lights as indicators, I've got orange bulbs in and I've tried bridging each of the wires from the rear light to the indicator but doesn't seem to do anything!

Any Simple way?

There is a how to on this, I know coz I used it to do mine!
