Just bought my 71 bay, its perfect!!! We have taken out all the old interior though, it was abit rough and i have a bloke whose waiting for designs to put in a new one.

I need a sink, 2 burner stove and all the rest of it, do you know where i can find the original layouts/ conversions on the net? I want to show him the original floor plans.

Also, if you have any ideas on what you would do to the interior if it was your van based around me needing the stove and sink/ bed etc let me know, open to ideas!

It should be done within 10 days of me having a plan and then ill post up the pics...

Cheers!

NOTE- just a thought, i am looking for a sink/burner hob, have seen the smev stuff looks good, but maybe something more retro, ceramic sink etc, and links to parts peeps let me know.

Many thanks,
pics to follow soon!!

Have a look here............

Must admit, I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to bus interiors. With two young kids and us, the parents, I prefer to have a bit of elbow room so all we have is a rear cupboard, overhead locker and rock n roll bed. IMO built-in units especially sinks just take up a lot of space and add weight. We tend to carry our gear in hard plastic safari boxes (which double up as extra seating) and which at the end of the day either stack up in the cab area or slip under the extended bed which leaves the load area freed up. It's easy to be swayed by pictures of custom-built interiors but it's a lot of extra weight to be lugging around in a stock van and just how practical are they? But that's just my personal preference - it's your own bus so do whatever you want. Look forward to seeing the final result - good luck.

You'll find some interior plans/dimensions for Devons amongst these brochures....

My bay was sold to me without an interior so I've been scanning the net for months too - you've probably discovered that interior plans are hard to come by!

You don't mention what type of bus you have (Devon/Danbury etc) but I guess it won't matter if you're going the custom route - PM me your email address and I'll forward you the plans sent to me by a very helpful EarlyBay member (sorry, can't remember who off hand!). Alternatively you can buy a set on eBay - I think they're based on a 1970's Australian design!

Welcome and well done on the purchase!

Why don't you just design your own - look at all the interiors on here, JK and VZi,
plus in mags and then away you go

Thanks for all the advice!

Im thinking of two sofa/bench seats one behind the drivers/passenger seat, one in the usual position with cabinets along the back housing the sink/hobs -have looked at the smev 2 in 1 units....then a cupboard in the left corner on the rear parcel shelf bit and the the roof cupboard....the bed would pull out and join up with the front bench seat and be 3/4

I think that would look pretty balanced...and give me extra seating room too...oh and with a table in the middle...and underseat storage of course!

Cheers,
Simon
