I am in the process of putting silent coat 2mm butyl based sound damping mat all over my van - well about 50-75% of each panel. And was wondering what else I could do to improve the sound deadening. I'm not even sure what the difference will be with what I've done so far as not driven it.
I came across this website https://www.deadening.co.uk/ which seems to have everything.

I was especially interested in the matting sound insulation in addition to the Silent Coat I've already done, all manufacturers do it, about 10mm thick.

Has anyone else used anything similar and was the difference worth it?

Silent coat makes a hell of a difference, by the time you get interior in (assuming it's a camper,) then they're pretty quiet. We did over and in front of engine and pieces in middle of each panel. We had some left and did the cab floor, surprisingly that probably made the biggest difference

I’ve used Silentcoat on mine for sound deadening. I personally don’t like to use anything else over the top of that, as it could trap damp. I use my camper for sleeping in so that can create a lot of moisture and condensation, especially in cooler weather. People who use their buses for everything else, but don’t sleep in them can use more insulation I guess.
I have used polyester insulation behind the ply panels to replace the old glass fibre matting. This is very light though and open and will not trap or absorb damp.

Interesting about putting silentcoat on the cab floor. I only fairly recently ( couple of years ago) had my cab floor freshly painted and repaired and would be loath to stick something to it [emoji23]

I bought some terrific gear from noise killer uk (Oldham based) Not cheap but made a hell of a difference. They win a lot of awards for competitions on soundproofing land rovers. Used a thinner about 3mm self adhesive deadening mat on inside of door panels and front panel behind kick boards. Used their top stuff which was about 8mm thick made up of a sandwich of neoprene type and lead sheet to line the bulkhead behind the engine shroud and under the rear seat and wheel arches ( inside ) this isn't sells adhesive so had to make some retaining straps for engine compartment ( be careful drilling , as you know petrol tank is behind bulkhead ! )
Also bought a hot water cylinder jacket which is fibreglass covered in plastic and cut into patches and taped up was perfect for filling the gap between front panel and kick boards. This has been great for both sound and heat insulation.havent done it but this could also be used in roof void. Condensation risk is always there but it would insulate well and the fibreglass would not get wet or damp. I got the jacket from screwfix and sealed cut ends up with their aluminium tape which was very good.
