Just a bit of fun,but.... I notice some have their door mirrors positioned length ways, others up right. just wondering which is the correct way to have them - how are they shown in VW advertising?

how do you have yours...?

I have mine horizontal ... Ive noticed the European literature shows them generally upright, and the US stuff horizontal, so thats my choice (though it does interfere with the quarterlight opening).

I beleive Loxy is right from a practical perspective though. :)

I have both mine vertically (portrait).

Just a few of the students where mine lives half the time seem to take a delight in kicking mirrors off of cars. (you can walk down a road and see every car has at least one damaged mirror some mornings)

I'd like to see them trying to get their leg high enough to take out the van mirror  but I feel putting the passenger one horizontally would make it more of a target.

Only a few weeks ago I had someone write 'i h8 hipies' on the van. I think they were trying to spell 'herpes', but I couldn't be too sure.

Upright or vertical is my choice, purely because the 4 bays I've owned or driven (the first being the one that my folks had brand new) have had them vertical, so I'm used to that way up! :D

Mine are upright, although i did see someone's bay (cant remember who's) that had motorbike mirrors fitted and i thought these looked as cool as.....

Verticle for me.
Suit the van that way.
I found (in mine anyway) that you get all round view just looking back.Just need mirrors to see the curb when parking.
Dont need them on the motorway as sutch as its just quick enough for the slow lane

Hiya Doris,

Vertical over here in the States.

I have seen a couple of Busses with horizontally oriented mirrors, but the vast majority (easily better than 90%) are vertical.

i like to have ours set at 51° 49' 38" to the horizontal, in accordance with the angles found within the 'golden pyramid'... they're a bugger to keep adjusted but it's worth it for the aesthetic balance it brings to the front of the bus 8)

Upright on mine for sure as they look **** horizontal
