I have been putting a few miles on the van recently since i have finally got all the major jobs sorted, and I've noticed a rubbing sound as the front wheels turn, new wheel bearings, coil overs, swearing have all made no difference, but tonight i have had a look underneath because i couldn't remember what id done with the brake backing plates when i put the drop spindles on since i don't remember cutting them. As it turns out i didn't, because there weren't any...
but whilst i was looking i noticed that with the nose in the air the lower trailing arms are insanely close to the back of the disk, as in the thickness of an empty rizla pack close, Im just wondering what kind of gap everyone else has, and if this is as i suspect too tight what ideas may be out there to fix it, as I've done less than 300miles in 8 years and i need to get out and drive the bloody thing.

Well after stripping everything down I've figured out that the rubbing is coming from the driver side brake disk, but the arms are still pretty bloody close

What dropped spindles are they?

They do run a lot closer as you have moved the hub up on the backplate so rather than the bottom balljoint sitting in the middle of the disc it now sits in line with the disc, we have more clearance issues with drum spindles than we do with disc spindles. Are you sure its nots catching the wheel rim as thats the other issue if you are running stock rims.

cheers Graham, i think i have it all sorted now.
Im pretty sure it was just the brakes and a selection of squeaks and creaks i was struggling to trace.
