Hello, newbie here
I have been advised that I need a new Dynamo for my 1600 westy. What would you recommend… reconditioned (just campers for example) or are there better options? Novice so welcome any help
Thanks Jon

Unless you're a purist wanting to keep everything stock then I'd recommend an alternator over a dynamo.

You do need to change a few other bits to fit, but they're all simple enough and you can buy a bundle deal e.g. https://www.justkampers.com/alternator-55-amp-conversion-kit-vw-beetle-1960-on-vw-t2-split-1960-1967-vw-t2-bay-1600cc-1967-1979.html

Always remember, ORIGINAL is best. If you can have it refurbished, do it.
Most of the guy's and doll's on here will tell you it's best to try and repair / refurbish the original stuff.
A lot of the new stuff nowadays does not last and is not built like it used to.
Hope this help's in some small way. :) :)

Best of both worlds - I fitted an original German alternator and stand in my bus. :)
