I have a 1972 early bay crossover model, which I am selling. Thought I may have a better chance if I get it running. It comes with a 1700cc pancake motor, which is needs rebuilding, I have an earlier 1641 engine which was insatlled in my 1966 splitty, can I install that into the Bay, If so what mods do I have to do?

The engine should be straightforward but you will need the correct support bar at the back and you will have to adapt the tinware to get a proper seal to the body. You dont say what gearbox is fitted. If its a 1700 the ratios will be fine but you may need to check the input shaft to see if it needs a little shortening. Also check what starter and bell housing is fitted to make sure the starter will engage on the flywheel etc. Sorry its a bit vague but without knowing exactly what has been done/fitted in the past its hard to be more precise.
