FOR SALE OR SWAP

Roxy2, our 1971 model, 1970 year, tin top camper van.

Ø Asking price is based on similar vehicles I have seen for sale but prices can vary greatly so I am being open minded with offers or swap for T5 (can be of less value with cash our way) as we don't want to give up the VW scene.

Overview - Reluctant to sell up as we've had some good times in her but we've decided we would like a T5 as our family have now grown up.

Restored 5 1/2 years ago, there is some small areas of rust coming through the usual places now but is in a very good condition, and is a solid bus. Absolutely loads of work and extras done on this bus with intentions of keeping it. We have even spent over £2700 this year alone upgrading the suspension, steering, brakes and wheels. Always been reliable and never let us down.

1641 engine, twin choke weber carb fitted 2009. Red 9 twin wishbone with coilovers, steering rack, remote brake servo and Porsche Fusch replicas with new tyres – All these were fitted May 2013 and have done less than 1000 miles. Fitted with endless cupboards and a 3/4 r&r bed. 240 v hook up, 12 v leisure circuits and leisure battery. Fridge, cooker, sink. And much, much more, too numerous to list at the mo.

More details in no particular order,

An original minibus so this is not a van conversion. UK from new and converted to the original interior by Danbury, though none of the original Danbury interior exists.

Purchased in 2008 as a grey primed running shell and restored by August 2008. We completely stripped out, had it professionally resprayed, all windows and doors refitted with new seals, fitted ply flooring and carpeted it. Upholstered the seats in vinyl to the front. New mdf panelling to the rear, all covered in wadding and upholstered along with the rear seat and walk through bulkheads in Porsche upholstery fabric. New headlining and a Full set of complimenting curtains.

Original tin top with no cutouts in side panels for electric or fridges. Averages 26-28mpg with a trailer on a good run averaging 55mph.

Also available and WILL INCLUDE IN THE SALE, ONLY IF I get the full asking price, otherwise negotiable, would be the 4 x 3ft teardrop trailer I built and painted in matching colour. Built in Eastern European external ply (better than marine grade) with a steel frame, new wheels and tyres, fully lockable gas strut opening hatch, steel mudguards and matching early bay lights. Also a spare wheel and wrench.

Also I have some spares and specialist tools, which will be of no use to me afterwards so these are available for purchase too, such as a CO2 analyser and timing light.

Bad points – obviously a bus this age isn’t going to be perfect:

Nothing major. A few minor mot advisories this year, wheel bearing play on both sides, these were new bearings just prior to the MOT so just needed retorquing. Oil leak, nothing to worry about, they put this on all my mot'd vehicles.

There is rust starting to come through on passenger door lower edge, sliding door lower edge, both rear corners and a few other minor areas.

Solid underneath

Good gutters with some minor rust spots mainly from where we've moved the roof rack

I also have a few litres of the original paint so you wont even need to buy any initially, and I will include this in the sale.

Additional info:

1971 model registered October 1970, tax free, UK registered from new. Early bay with low lights to front, small lights to rear. Disc brakes fitted as standard from new but now upgraded to late bay discs, calipers and pads.

Receipts for around 95% of all work / purchases and all MOT certificates since we have owned the bus.

A wiring diagram of the leisure circuits – very important when buying a previously owned van – this labels all items and location for the leisure circuits.

Ø If you’d like to reduce the price then the fridge and roof rack are negotiable in the final selling price.

On request, if you purchase this van I can supply you with any of the photos of it from when we first owned it. The side view photo here is with the 3 bow rack and steel wheels we had on it originally.
