dear all

after fitting a new but bog standard exhaust to my van in the last year and a half it has gone to look crap.

I purposely fitted a standard exhaust as I like to keep everything pretty well standard, but now the exhaust looks crap I am wondering what to do .

I was thinking of a basic and discreet chrome tip, but have yet to find a good one, any ideas of where I could get one from ???

Or apart from that any relative cheap and easy ways to rejuvenate my exhaust

thanks in advance

Not the stainless one tho? I have this on my bus and its mint after 6 or so years 8)

heat proof black paint...

rub the rust down and get as good a finnish as poss, cheap and cheerful but will tidy it up.......

I've got a stock mild steel box, I've had it maybe just over a year now.

My van is out in all weathers, and the heatproof paint could do with re-applying fairly soon I suppose. I didn't prep mine before painting it, and it was a used exhaust anyway.

If you put it on without, I'd remove the whole exhaust and wire brush it all back to bare metal before applying LOTS of VHT paint in thin layers. :) Should last a reasonable time before needing to re-apply then. Depends how much effort you want to go to :)

Anyone know if the stock stainless systems sound the same as the mild steel exhaust backboxes? My van is a long way off, but on my bug I have a stainless stock system and it isn't quite the same... but that might be the tailpipes.

hide it? I know this is my split but it is 1600TP with stock exhaust and a little bit of cutting and welding. I did cut the final bend right off but it was noticeably noisier, so put a 45 degree turn down back on.
