Ha ha oh yes endless quips of what we're up to with fanny, if we're going to play with fanny, how fanny is looking dirty today etc etc. [emoji23]I'm always asking if people want to see pictures of fanny. I'm sure I'll get into trouble for it soon.

We've got insulation to go on top of the soundproofing, some double bubble foil and trouble stuff that is hopefully light but warm. When that's all in we'll be getting a full rewire before we fit shiny new birch ply. A new wardrobe / locker from camper shak and then we'll be set.

Thanks for the seat comps. We're very pleased with how they look and how they didn't cost that much compared to what some places charge for restoration!

That's interesting I'm probably 5 MLS away from them and spoke to them about a Subaru conversion about 2yrs ago but then finances went out the window but will deffo speak to them soon as managed to save some pennies again and bought a donor car

Apologies for the lengthy post! We've been doing a lot of work on the interior of Fanny.

We've replaced all of the roof and side ply with birch lining from custom designs. The fit was reasonable but did require some trimming. The ply was slightly thicker than standard and so the correct popper studs wouldn't hold it in. We bought some coach bolts that were very shiny and did some aging with vinegar. We then jenolited them to prevent rusting and are very please with the final look.

We've redone the window seals and replaced the door card on the passenger side. We've also (perhaps controversially) covered the original face of the rock and roll bed with birch veneer as the front face of the buddy seat has been destroyed by the previous owner and we wanted to tie everything in together. We're going to cover the rest of the buddy seat soon. We've got an appointment with camper shak for a new cupboard next week.

We've had a full rewire and leisure system fitted by Iain from aircooled autoelec and have fitted a new fuel sender, fuel filter and save my bug dipstick. We've fitted new rocker gaskets, adjusted the valve clearances and fitted new plugs and ht leads. We had a bit of a disaster on the bonnet when the hinge snapped. They were jammed in pretty tight and had to use plenty of WD40 and a screwdriver bit on a wrench to get them out. We've replaced one with a new hinge and are building our strength back up to have a go at the other one in the future ha ha. We've fitted a new starter battery too.

After much deliberation we chose some interior lights and are very happy with them. They have individual switches on and look good! They were from a chandlers website. Ours has a hinge cover rather than a headbanger locker and it is in a fairly sorry state much like the rest of the interior ply was. But we have a cunning plan to cover it with a couple of layers of the birch veneer as it's very flexible and can even be cut with scissors.

We're working on eliminating some water ingress around the old aerial aperture before laying our new carpets. A friend is taking all of the dents from the bumpers before they're resprayed cloud white. We're also working on finishing off our homemade kitchenette but when we went away for the first time this year last weekend we used a portable stove which was fine for a one night stay. We've decided to just use a cool box and cool bag combination under the buddy seat rather than a fridge and are going to see how that goes.

We've purchased an olpro loopo breeze awning but haven't had the chance to try yet. We've also bought a pooh tent ha ha but the jury's out on that so far as it's a bit sh*t [emoji23]. It's a pop up tent and we can't get the poles to untwist.

So we're nearly finished (or as finished as anyone's van gets!). That was quite cathartic documenting everything we've done so far! Makes you realise how much progress you've made. [emoji4]

Thanks, it's been trial and error but looking forward to hopefully completing it this weekend then we can test it out

Managed a trip to the beach last week for fish and chips in Fanny! Felt good driving her onto the beach. She was definitely the prettiest one there ha ha. She's bumperless at the moment as they're getting tarted up.

Had a new cupboard fitted by Camper Shak and just collected it today, very pleased with it! All made to our specs and a perfect match with the new birch veneer on the bed and buddy seat. She's gone for her MOT now but can't wait to get out and about in her!

In other news we're picking a beetle called George up tomorrow and I hope to use him as my daily driver!

Fitted some new madmatz carpets and managed to finish both door cards after having a nightmare with the plastic membrane. Fanny sure likes to leak in wherever she can!

We ended up doing an elaborate fix of sealing up the door rod hole with a piece of latex fitted behind the hole and the sealing the other door holes with a combination of duck tape and polythene both inside and outside with double sided tape. We then tucked the membrane into the large hole at the bottom to encourage the rain to drain down into the door.

We went to stocks reservoir the other day for a chill out and a picnic. Lovely isolated location!

It's been a while since I've updated here but there's been lots of progress. We've had more welding done around the windscreen and she was leaking in and wetting all the new carpets! She seems to be pretty water tight now 🤞🏻

We've finished the interior now with all of the mats under the seats, new ply facing on the buddy seat to match the rest and a hinge cover that took a lot of fiddly messing around and lots of rude words to achieve. We've also fitted jailbars to the rear.

We're thinking of ordering a spare wheel plug from Delilahs, we could chuck the wheel under the van at night then. Anyone got one?

We're planning a long jaunt at the end of August taking in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall so if anyone has any recommendations of places to pitch up that would be great!

Haven't updated anything on here for a while even though we've done loads and been far! So I'll just add the latest tweak... we replaced one of our non working louvre windows today seeing as the sun was out. We were pleasantly surprised that there wasn't more rust around the frame so just did a quick tidy up and got the new frame in. Nice to have a working jalousie window! We'll have the other side done soon no doubt. Ready for all this warm weather we're going to get. [emoji1695]

Nice work, how did you treat the surface rust?
Light sand trying not to damage any original paint protecting the rest, jenolite rust converter, iron oxide and a top coat of white spray. We're getting the top resprayed eventually so we weren't too fussed about it being too tidy. Hopefully it's enough to keep the dreaded rust at bay. [emoji1695]

First trip out in the van this year due to a lot of life stuff happening. Just a soggy trek up the M6 to Garstang for the night but feels good to be out. [emoji4]
