Im just about to drop my engine out of my 68 bay. Repair oil cooler leak etc. whilst its out I was thinking of fitting a fire wall. Can't find one any where?? Should I bother??

If it were my bus I would want it as safe as I could - so would install a firewall should the worst happen and you have an engine fire or are rear ended when traveling.

Best place to find one is probably the samba - although they are mostly in the states so import costs might be high either that or someone will be breaking a bus over on eBay.

There is one over on eBay - just found it and its well priced

The Ebay one is for a late bay fella. I had the same problem with my 68, i eventually got hold of one from Dubfreeze auto jumble last year. They arn't necessary but i'm happier with mine, also makes the engine a tad quieter too. Keep your eyes open for one with the same angle cut on both top edges, thats the one you need, the ones with two different angles are 70 onwards. i paid £25 for mine which was a bargain, i've seen em up for £85!!!!

I'm looking for a good 68 cover panel if anyone knows of another for sale??

Try the sales and wants section of the forum, for a 69 onwards type.

June '68 onwards had firewalls as standard, mine is a March '68 and the firewall screwed straight onto the frame, holes were even there already.
