Hi all. See I told you the daft questions would start. Now I'm not expecting miracles but you must be able to get some heat to the screen on a bus. For info Mine is a 72 model. I have one slide control next to the fuel gauge and a little lever on the pipe under the dash in front of the hand brake. So as there is more than one moving part it's managed to baffle me, which isn't hard  So please can somebody tell me how to get a smidgeon of heat? Oh and I've found a twisty round knob which is just down from the drivers seat. Looks like the one for moving the seat but doesn't (if that makes sense) Is this something to do with the heater as well?

You should have 4 slide controls on the dash. 2 blue, 2 red.
The red ones are for heat from the heat exchangers, the blue ones are for cold air through the front flap.

The metal lever on the upright tube beneath the dash controls whether the heat goes to the floor or the screen

Hello mate
the knob under the seat is for heat into the cargo area there is a vent under the walk through if you have a walk through that is :?: that blows air into the back and the knob under the handbrake that goes up and down on a pivot is i believe is for fresh air or heat to the screen or to your feet , the controls on the dash are red for heat in from the heat exchangers and the blue opens the vents behind the front grill for fresh air if i am wrong someone will be along soon to correct me ;)
cheers shaun :)

Cheers guys. Interesting that some where in it's life it's managed to lose 3 of it's 4 controls!!! and god only know's if the electric fan is in the back still.  So it's time to get my head up the back of the dash board and find out what's going on. Oh and no walk way so I'm guessing I can twiddle that knob (silly school boy giggle) as much as I like and nothing will happen. Story of my life really ;)

Its a pull out knob and if you look bottom centre of the bulkhead floor level you'll see some slots thats the heater outlet

cheers. My bulk head has been trimmed and I'm thinking they've covered over them which is a bit pants.

Right had a further look tonight. Hoses from fan cowling to heat exchangers, Check! heat exchangers 2 Check! out let valve cable operated for dumping hot air when not wanted Check! Insulated pipe to front of bus, Check!

Issues I have found. 1 the actual plastic air manifold has dropped down behind the dash. The heater control mechanism with the slide controls is only designed to have one slide. It is for operating the cold air flap on the front panel. I believe the turning wheel at the base of the front seat is for opening the hot air dump valves on the outlet of the heat exchangers. I can't prove this at the current moment. If I open the little toggle valve on the up right air pipe in the cab which is against the front panel I do get a very gentle air pressure I can also hear the engine running from the pipe.

When I've been to look at different buses I also saw a few with only one lever. Is there a chance that a different system was used on say maybe a previous commercial vehicle? This would make sense with mine being a Fleetline. I have the day off tomorrow and plan to spend it lying on my back............under the bus you naughty minded people!! I'll try and move the air dump valves by hand and follow the cables to see what they are attached to. If anybody has any more ideas I'd be pleased to hear them.
