Fitting windscreen wiper seals

I have 5 jobs left for MOT. One of them is to fit the rubber seal that goes over the windscreen wiper spindle and seals the body. Is there a way of getting these on without dismantling the whole system. Tried pushing them over the spindle but split one. Cheers

Hi bud,
don't know if it's the same on a 72 but on mine (68) with both wiper arms fully removed there is some 'wiggle room',maybe an inch, in the wiper mechanism to push the spindles backwards enough to fit the seal/grommet bit in.

Tried that, but thinking about it if I get a second pair of hands under the dash plus use a lub it should work.
