Freezing weather is certainly loosing its lustre for me. Coming here from Aus 4 years ago it was such a culture shock to drive to work through snow and icy conditions. But then, when the spring and summer came, the UK is a great place to be. However, this hideous cold of late is testing my patience. Do I miss Aus? You betcha! Am I home sick? Not really, yet. Things I miss about Sydney: Coming home from work and having dinner at the beach, either bought or brought from home in shorts and tshirts for at least 10 months of the year. BYO BBQ's. Cool early morning breezes at the beginning of a 35degree day. Driving and going to the supermarket with no shoes on (this horrified my Welsh wife) Eating meals on the patio and around the pool. An afternoon at the rugby league....go dragons! Things I don't miss: Bindii's in the grass Flies in late summer Late February humidity that you could cut into blocks Anyway, enough whinging. The sun is shining down here, it's a holiday and I have a stone wall to build in the garden. Happy camping to all of you who are braving the cold.
