Is it possible to change the front gearbox mount on a 1970 bay without gearbox/engine removal? Under ours at the weekend doing the gearshift front bush and coupler. Our coupling cage had the telltale signs of the gearbox not being supported during an engine out task, and I noticed that the flat plate within the rubber bonded gearbox mount is not horizontal as it should be. It’s skewed up on one side, and the steel bracket bolted into nosecone is buckled slightly to match. I suppose because of this, the nosecone might not be too well aligned with the gearshift linkage, although I got it connected and it drove better through the gears. If I can support the front end of the gearbox with a jack stand or bottle jack, is there room to undo the mount from the chassis & bracket from the nosecone, to then refit a new set?
