hi all, i bought some inertia seat belts at van fest and went to fit them today!

I discovered that the mount for the standard belts is horizontal and these things need to be verticle to work...nutts :?

anyone else had this problem? is it possible to mount them to the bulkhead? or do i just have the wrong type?

Thanks

gonna have another look tonight.

the only thing i can think of is im trying to put the main unit in the wrong place (at the bottom) surely it would look odd on the door pillar?

someone must have fitted modern seatbelts? :?

Any guidance would be appreciated guys.

Not positive about this but I think Ive seen them fitted to the lower mounting with a 90 degree bracket.

If you fit the reel to the B pillar upper mounting there is a good chance they wont work, and if you make you own location to fit them to the bulk head without reinforcing the panel there is a good chance they will rip out under load.

thanks mate, had another look tonight anf im going to get the old man to make me up a set of steel 90 degree brackets, that way I can utilise the existing reinforced holes.

Why the hell don't they supply you with the brackets!

where did you get them from? and what make are they? The JK ones I bought a while back came with all the fittings required (made by Securon).

yeah i got stitched i think, got em from van fest and the box was all torn, should of fired it back but you know what it's like. "all the parts there mate" "yeah it's all there dont worry"... :x

Cant remember the company...

Go for at least 3mm steel for you bracket, there should be an anti rotation feature on the belt reel usually a metal tab get your man to make a hole for this to the inertia mech need the belt reel to be level to engage when loaded. Would do a few emergency stops one you have them in just to check all is working as it should. Use min 8.8 bolts (higher tensile) and put a big spreader washer on the back to distribute load.
