Hi guys, I recently (approx. 2-3 months ago) replaced the fuel pump, pushrod and base with all new parts from JustKampers.

Last night my Bay broke down, and I have taken the fuel pump off today to find that the end of the pushrod has been ground down, so the cam doesn't lift the pushrod past the base at all therefore no fuel is being pumped.

has anyone encountered this problem before? Is it likely to be a super stiff fuel pump, or a problem in the bottom end?

the pushrod lifted out of the base just fine so it wasn't sticking in the shaft.

I've read of this a few times lately. Faulty push-rod so take it up with the supplier?

It seems odd that a supplier cannot manufacture a hardened push rod that is up to the job, it's easy to put a new one in but I'm concerned it is something to do with the brass distributor drive gear on the crank, only just started my research into it though.

i have checked the other components that I can see and everything seems to be in good working order...

If this is a manufacturing fault, and JK admit this, are they going to pay to have your engine rebuilt? all that metal floating around in the engine isn't good :(

I have contacted JK explaining my problem and asking if they have ever had any reports of faulty push rods and their reply was...

"Good afternoon Phil,

no, I'm sorry we haven't had any other reported problems with the Fuel Pump Push Rod, it might be worth looking at your Distributor Drive, as the rod sits on this. There might be some wear on this drive which is causing the Rod to wear out.

If that is not the case please let me know.

Kind regards

Roger"

Yes you do need to look at the dissy drive since the push rod sits on this and rides up and down as the drive rotates.

As with any moving part, if there is wear then both components need to be checked.

Be very careful when removing the dissy drive not to lose or drop the two thrust washers that sit at the bottom of the dissy drive.

If you drop these into the case then its a complete strip down to retrieve them.

You might be able to see thought where the alternator pedistool bolts on
