hi just a quick ? Been running on standard unleaded ,but been told to use super unleaded ,it's a1641 twin kads etc, any advice cheers

Cheers for that got a bit of a mix in the tank but should be ok.

Super unleaded has no ethanol, so it will be kinder to your petrol tank and rubber hoses, not to mention the fire risk if not maintained.

That link says super has ethanol in certain regions and that it's likely to become more widespread in the future. It looks like it was written in 2011 so may well be inaccurate now.

Interesting though

you should really increase the advance of the timing a little though if you're going to run it for a while. Now and again i treat mine to a tank, and i think it runs a little nicer - but doesn't give any appreciable power advantage

Super unleaded makes a difference in my MK5 Golf GTI as the ECU has sensors that can automatically adjust the ratio of fuel to air depending on the RON rating of the fuel
Actually increases the power (slightly) and burns cleaner (slightly) - greater gains are made on remapped vehicles

On our old carbed buses without ecu's or adaptive mapping save your pennies and run standard fuel!

they used to run on 2 star back in the day, all this new fangled stuff is a waste of cash.
