Gearbox help

Will an AM code gearbox from a Beetle cabrio fit my '69 bus?

it will fit with some work ie a kit as supplied by monkey spinner....remember its a 1300 box and the change in ratios may not suit your driving/needs

No worries, only a thought, I didn't realise it was a 1300 'box.
Might need a replacement box for my bus, and this was for sale on vzi.

plenty of early boxes come up sub 100 notes.....

if you go that route get it rebuilt first and it should last your lifetime....

You are looking at around £500 from cool air and around £600 from Bears or Cogbox :wink: Depends on what you have done. Straight forward rebuild or playing around with the ratios to get a higher cruising speed etc. :mrgreen: You also have the option of strengthened cases and gears etc. :wink:

Is it the same guy ddfrost used? his was about £400 i think......

or try the engine shop type 2 £495 and type 4 £525.... page 11 Volks World...

if you call them they should be able to sort out a T4 with the relevant mods for your bus....

thats bloody cheap for a recond box.....

then theres remtec £549 T2 and T4 again they should be able to sort out a T4 modified to fit a 1600TP page 23

yeah might have been araon, the guy was an old geezer doing business by word of mouth only, it was a while back but maybe he has increased his prices due to demand.

plus depends on the work involved, the full scale only comes to light when the case is cracked.....
