I've just removed my 72 3 rib box with the aim of fitting new gaskets (all the joins are covered in a mix of oil and muck!)
I'll have to remove the bell housing which seems straight forward enough. After that it's the shift rod housing and then the selector housing
When I remove these is there any precautions I need to take? Bentley manual instructions are pretty basic so I'm assuming there's not going to be parts jumping out everywhere and landing in the 4 corners of the garage?
Cheers

For anyone that needs to do this...
Did the bell housing gasket on Sunday-propped box up on its end to drain any excess oil away (already emptied out as much as I could), loosened off the nuts and give it a couple of knocks with rubber mallet. Used caution so not to damage seal on shaft but that's all. Slid it off then cleaned up the mating surfaces, bit sealant then new gasket, torque up

Did shift rod housing tonight-beware that a fair bit oil collects in here so took a lot more cleaning. Maybe best to give it an hour or so before lifting off. Only loose part here is the shift rod-this can be put to one side then popped back in just before putting the housing back on
Surprised me how much oil has been left in the box since I drained it, but it's pretty thick that gearbox stuff!

Selector housing to do next
