Right then you guru's!!! I want to get a little more grunt out of the Bus. I'm not looking to make it go faster but When I'm cruising at around 55/60 I'd like some more poke to get up the hills. So what should I do? Twin carbs? better exhaust? I'm not in to making a racket with noisey pipes also I've got a tow bar fitted so I can't go silly with the exhaust anyway. So tell me what you've done and what bits I should just stay well away from.

Cheers

oh and what is the standard bhp/torque of a 1600tp anyway?

Standard brake horse out of the factory was 50hp ( i think)
As you've already said twin carbs and an exhaust to match are the easiest ways, after that then its bigger cc's but this means machining the case and heads for bigger barrels and pistons, a different cam can help but it all really depends on your budget and ability.
A different gearbox can also help.

assuming you don't want to take the case apart and therefore a cam's out of the question, twin carbs are the cheapest option but a mild head job as well does wonders..

Don't really want to open up the engine at all. If I go down the twin carb route and exhaust what are the typical gains am I going to see?

Good point and speed isn't what I'm after just some more puff up them blasted hills. Of course I could always just move to Holland
