Having searched about there seems to be a mismatch of information flying around on this subject, so im hoping this thread will be a guide for me and others in the future.

So, if you have done this or know how to do it this is the thread for you to get posting on!

I have a CP Code 091 6Rib Box currently sat in the garage that i want to get fitted ASAP but as i dont want the bay off the road for long when i make the swap i would like to know what exactly needs to done, any problems that may be encountered, what parts can be used off the existing van and what new parts will need to be sourced.

Questions that seem to be common but with very few definitive answers:

Does the bellhousing on a CP box need to be changed to connect to an EB Engine?
If yes is the bellhousing off the EB Box transferable?
If the bellhousing is ok, what thrust bearing do you use?
Is the thrust bearing off an EB Box trasferable?
Do you have to change the clutch/flywheel to a later bay type?
What starter motor needs to be used....Late bay 2ltr or the one off your EB?
If you have to use a 2ltr starter does the flywheel on an EB engine need to be changed to a later one?
Do you need to weld in late bay gearbox hangers or can you run without them like a normal EB?
Are the bolt patten on the CV joints the same.....is it just a case of bolt em up or does somthing need to be modified/changed?
Ive read that 2ltr Bay CP 6 Rib Box is "longer" - is this the body of the gearbox, the gear selector, imput shaft or all of the above?
What issues does fitting this "longer" gearbox cause and how does this affect fitting?
What is the imput shaft....is this the shaft that sticks out of the bellhousing and attaches to the clutch?
How much does the imput shaft need to be shortened by?
How do you shorten it.....is it just a case of choping it off with a hacksaw?
If the box is longer will i need to cut down the selector shaft or gear selector rod to get all gears?

Questions, Questions!

I will be doing this shortly and will post up my progress but If you can help or have any advise please post it up.

Cheers,

Tony

Hope this helps as I've done this recently

Yes

If yes is the bellhousing off the EB Box transferable?
yes

If the bellhousing is ok, what thrust bearing do you use?
Is the thrust bearing off an EB Box trasferable?
yes but you will have to use the fork etc off when you tranfer the bell housing

Do you have to change the clutch/flywheel to a later bay type?
no as long as you are transfering the complete clutch mechanism

What starter motor needs to be used....Late bay 2ltr or the one off your EB?
EB if you have tranferred the bell housing

If you have to use a 2ltr starter does the flywheel on an EB engine need to be changed to a later one?
Do you need to weld in late bay gearbox hangers or can you run without them like a normal EB?
no but you do need to change the nose cone which you haven't mentioned yet so a gasket set is in order here for bot the bell and the nose, it does make sense to change the gearbox remote seals as well whilst you have it apart

Are the bolt patten on the CV joints the same.....is it just a case of bolt em up or does somthing need to be modified/changed?
yes, I did loctite mine in as wekk

Ive read that 2ltr Bay CP 6 Rib Box is "longer" - is this the body of the gearbox, the gear selector, imput shaft or all of the above?
I found that its abot 3-5mm longer once you have change the nose and bell, all went in ok with the exception of the rear engine bar which was a bit of a pig (took about 30mins to get it fitted), no cutting or grinding

What issues does fitting this "longer" gearbox cause and how does this affect fitting?
What is the imput shaft....is this the shaft that sticks out of the bellhousing and attaches to the clutch?
yes

How much does the imput shaft need to be shortened by?
I didn't cut mine as it all went in ok, but I think I may have been lucky, once your engine is out check the depth of the hole (crank) that the shaft goes in, o yer measure ( I've forgotten the sizes sorry) the length of the shaft the bit that sticks out further then the bell housing on the 2 litre box and do the same on the EB box and remember that (I think it should be about 10mm, but check), once you've changed the bell housings over do the same. You will now be able to know whether it goes in without having to cut the shaft (which I wouldn't reccommend). It the depth of the hole in the crank is greater than the difference then it should all fit with no problems

How do you shorten it.....is it just a case of choping it off with a hacksaw?
wouldn't reccommend this, firstly you have no chance with a hacksaw as it's hardened, the main shaft will come out nad they are iner changable, but after trying for a day to understand how I don't know, if you do have to change them try and find a gear box specialist or someone that has done this before

If the box is longer will i need to cut down the selector shaft or gear selector rod to get all gears?
no

I hope this helps, if all goes to plan you should be able to do this in a day and the box does help on the motorway

Dogs bollox information/post that Ian - Cheers dude.

Couple of more question if thats ok and and than im done:

Is the nose cone off a EB 002 Gearbox interchangable with the LB 091?

Is the job of changing both the bellhousing and nose cones a simple job of un-bolting and re bolting?

Cheers,

Tony

I'm not sure about numbers but if its a 1600 box then yes mine was a straight forward swap

Is the job of changing both the bellhousing and nose cones a simple job of un-bolting and re bolting?
with cleaning things up etc it's a 30min job of just un-bolt and rebolting and getting covered in smelly gearbox oil

Cheers,

Tony
