Hi there silly question but can someone explain how to lock the sliding door, i've tried doing it from the inside and from the outside with the key but it doesn't wanna know.

Cheers

shut door firmly, turn handle upwards as far as it will go, rear of door should move inwards, release, key can now be used to lock it.
Same procedure on the inside shut door, turn inside handle towards horizontal, release, click little switch up(down? - cant remember which way  )

Just tried slamming the door so its definatly shut and lifted the handle up but didnt go very far, released and put the key in but still didnt work. Can just pull down on the handle and it opens?

Do you think the locks had it?

are yuo able to remove the door card and make sure all the linkage is ok.Frankie

Get some spray grease into it,especially around the "u" like swing out hinge..mine was a bit dicky at first.

Sounds like your lock is loose.

open door
remove cover from inner slider handle
There is a phillips screw
check its tight?
If yes/ remove the screw and handle and slide out the outer handle check position of lock?
Remove lock
clean lock
grease the lock
grease the housing
replace the lock and should be right!

Most of often it is loose causing the lock to not locate.

Hope this helps?

I've just had problems locking mine after refitting the door after a respray. After checking the mechanics of the locks on the door etc it turned out to be a poorly adjusted lock plate on the B post which also required shimming a couple of mm's from the post. Sorted now

Might be worth a go if all else fails ;)

If its the type with two rods, reducing the 'throw' (tightening) on the top rod will give more action to the door when you pull it up to secure it, hence pulling it in more. hth's

Sorted cheers people. I took handle out and teh barrel just needed spining round so the little pin went into the whole.
