I’ve got a late bag engine a 1600 tp and I’ve bought a late bay gearbox to match code 002 301 103 D I can’t work out which clutch to put in it. Looking on heritage the thrust bearing for a late bay which should go in my new gearbox should have square shoulders but by the looks of it it’s using the rounded shoulders the same that has came off my early bay box? Any help ??

Here’s some pics of the difference in gearbox’s. The green one is the new one. I notice that the old box has a spring on the arm. Also can anyone confirm that the clutch with the strange arms is the original?

That's an early clutch with the three fingers.
It looks like the mid one to me. The photo above is the arm in the new box, what do you think? I’ll take the bearing off the old box tomorrow which is an early bay box.
What about the missing spring do you know if the later box should have it?
Thank you for your help Sparkywig

You'll need a spring otherwise the clutch won't disengage. If the spring has been removed are you sure the gearbox is OK?

Get a 200mm clutch kit, including release bearing, to suit the arm in the gearbox.

I bought the gearbox from a breakers in the midlands, can’t for the life of me remember the name now, I’ve got the receipt I’ll have a look. They sent me a video of a van being driven around with the box in it and said they had checked it over and it works fine. … maybe I’m too trusting 🤔
I’ve still got my old one, if all else fails,
I’ll buy a new spring kit to go on and fit it, it’s not a huge job to change the boxes over.
Ok so I’ll go ahead and order a 200mm kit 👌
Thanks again 👍
