Think it needs locking  been a bad couple of days in vw forums, everyone take a chill pill and relax, it's even happening on tlb there nearly ripping throats out over there.

Sad times :(

Sorry to be the hippy but aren't we all on this site because we love one thing VW Early Bays, I know we all have different opinions on a lot of issues, but this is supposed to be an informative site for members to get advice, offer advice, sell some of our spares to each other and occasionally help each other out and meet for a beer once in a while. Maybe pulling or locking this thread is an example of how mods are necessary to stop animosity and bad blood between what should be a friendly get together of like mind vw fans, nuff said. SORRY TO BE THE HPPY

I think an outpouring now and again does no harm , looking at what's been written I think we are pretty lucky that the 'beef' around the place is pretty trivial. We are a good and healthy community. This thread will drop off the page when it's members let it. that's democracy! :D

I only consider myself a very small minnow in a pond over here, just a guy who one day will own a 68 bay, whereas on the late bay i'm a massive poster and i'm like marmite (love or hate) but even i can see bitching between forums isn't good, we've always had banter but it shouldn't get personal, people have bad days, people make bad calls, but at the end of the day it's just a bloody forum to talk about vans, i'm sad zed got upset - i consider him a good mate, i'm also sad if my posts upset alex/were considered to have been off topic, i need to remember sometimes that the rules on here are a bit stricter than on tlb, i didn't realise some of you go on both sites with different user names though, that's crafty - although with a **** coloured van i doubt i'd be able to hide from you..... whereas your vans are all cream westys
that's a joke btw, i saw a red one and a blue one once....
for what it's worth i hope this gets sorted without a big fall out, both sites compliment each other and there's never a need to get personal, i remember the chap above with his buddy box idea, i even said good luck to him and showed him a pic of my original westy one, i do recall some less tactful peeps moaning about the cost but didn't realise it got out of hand.

Hope all this rambling isn't classed as off topic now! i do go on a bit! Rick.

HAHAHAHA I thought they only come in the one colour LOL.

The others are just painted imposters

I feel much better today, still no apology..but hey ho!!
I have massive respect for everyone on here, and will do my upmost to keep the community together and alive. :D
But its a fact we will disagree at times and *****, thats life.

Love you Gadget no hard feelings.

Wow - what a read, amazing what you miss when you don't read a thread for 24 hours!

Paul - I can vouch your BuddyBoxes are awesome quality with some lovely features - non slip matting, soft close hinges, top quality all round. Clare and I are very impressed.

Deano banned from VZi - naughty boy!

I am sure we will all be laughing about this thread come the next EarlyBay meet up be it Xmas diner or Ninove

Peace out everyone :D

What a read ...
My view as an average joe signed up to this forum is simple, I've been lucky enough to meet and talk to the vast majority of the mods who have posted on this thread and a fair few of the others who have posted including Alex at events, shows and European trips. My love and enjoyment of VW's has been enhanced and my knowledge improved ... and its all down to the folk I have met on this forum and a huge number that I haven't met but who take the time to post a response or start their own thread, and the one common link is the joy (and pain) that owning a pre-brick shape VW brings. Blimey, even post-brick vw's are tolerated to a point

But outside that circle of interest I doubt that I would ever have met yet alone talked to them (and probably vice versa) and if I'd judged a book by its cover I'm sure half the folk would have been the type as a young boy growing up my mother would have told be not to associate with ... and yes thank god as we grow up we realise that life is full of characters that have their own views and as we get a little wiser you find that you may not agree with those views but you learn to accept them and because of that my life sure is richer today compared to six years ago when I jumped feet first into bus ownership

But its the characters that express themselves well, that don't jump to conclusions or jump too fast, that engage their brain before opening their mouth or hitting a keyboard that earn the most respect. To me this forum has always been about respecting people's views, it has allowed healthy banter but won't tolerate unwarranted slagging of individuals or companies and that surely has to be down to the way the mods 'control' it.

Hardly a day goes by that I don't drop in to the forum, and I'll try and add a helpful point when I think my limited knowledge maybe of use but the vast amount of time I'm just a quiet observer. If people don't want to be here then they can choose to sign off, but I bet they won't resist popping on as a 'guest' from time to time as the data and knowledge of its members is too vast and helpful to ignore.

But when it comes down to it the quality of this forum is in our hands not the mods, lets not lose that.
