Horn problems

I have some trouble getting the horn of my '71 to work. Directly above the hole in the floor where the steering shaft goes through to the steering box, there is a brown wire with a lug coming through and I have no idea where it should go? Please help!

The brown wire is an earth return, from your description is this wire coming from the outside?

Yes, indeed - it is coming from the outside, but was the lug supposed to connect to the steering shaft?

It should connect to the horn button so it looks like the wire to the floor has dissconnected and gone astray, have a good rummage around ...

I'm assuming your using the stock push and horn.....

Thanks Aaron, according to the green Bentley book, that lug should go to the inside of that round thingy that screws to the floor of the cab, around the outer steering shaft. I couldn't get mine to move yet, though...

Where does the wire that runs down the steering shaft come out at the bottom, at the steering box?
