Alright guys and gals, my bug has now gone and I'm back on the market for a bus that I can make cool again :)

I have found a bus that I'm seriously interested in, and it's at a great price.

Can anyone give me any numbers or details of shippers that I can use to collect from site and deliver to the docks, then who to use to ship?

Also, when the car lands over here, how much tax do I need to pay and, do I pay it to the shipping company?

Obviously I've never done this but, surely it can't be that hard.

Kingstown shipping was a company that was recommended to me when I was looking. Give them a ring, they're really helpful. They can arrange most of the stuff needed to transport and import.

Where in the US is it as that makes a difference, as suggested do a search as theres lots of info on the site, I seem to have put loads up in the past.

Kingstown are good guys but I always handle the US end myself as its more cost effective,

You came straight to mind when I saw the title of this thread...hence my comment about searching. I know you have posted on several identical threads...

There are so many threads on here about it dude, when you type 'Importing' in the search box, there's a mountain of stuff to go through.
I've been in touch with Mark Cowley at Kingstown and he's very helpful.

Maybe someone with all the knowledge could possibly do a thread and make a sticky???

Thoroughly recommend Kingstown, they brought in my 40 ford and bring in loads of cars for other v-dubbers/rodders, they know what to do.

Well I've paid for the bus and Kingstown are now taking control

I hope it all goes OK and the guy I've paid is trustworthy.

Probably too late for you now but just in case anyone else comes across this thread. I tried Kingstown shippers and although they were very helpful over the phone and I have no doubt their service is very good they were just a bit too expensive I thought.

I did some research and went through a company called west coast shipping in the US and then organised an agent on this side (Hill Shipping) who put through the vehicle of historical importance application for me. I saved £400 doing it this way.

Just another option a wee bit more involved but was well worth it for me. If anyone needs a hand/advice give me a PM!

We use west coast shipping if possible but they are only viable if the bus is out of northern cali as thats where they ship out of, they are considerably cheaper than any of the shippers out of the LA area so thats where most of the cost saving is.

I've used Hill Shipping but to be honest standard of service isn't a patch on the service I get from Kingstown, who are far more experienced and have multiple people you can talk to.

You're right about WC Shipping being the cheapest. A guy called Steve O' Rourke dealt with me and was sound. If you need vehicle transportation to the port US side they're the cheapest by far as well. $100 I was quoted for transport from Sacramento to Oakland.

Yeah Hill Shipping wouldn't give me a date that the bus would be ready for collection so that I could organise a vehicle transporter to pick it up. They then emailed saying that the bus was ready to pick up that day which was short notice for the transporter who needed to know a few days in advance. They then said that if I didn't collect within 3 days I'd have to pay rent for every day after that.

Still for the savings I made I'd probably go with them again, wasn't enough to put me off.
