Now i know its not an early bay, so i apologise for that, but ive got to start somewhere!

I Want to lower it quite abit, enough to look low but not so low im scraping the deck, ive got the idea in my head to keep the original white wheels with vw dome caps and put lower profile tyres on, what do you think?

My question is tyre sizes! I think i will have to keep the 185 r14c's on the back due to the load of the engine, but as i want it low and dont want my tyres to hit the arches when i steer im thinking maybe 185/60/14's on the front? :? What tyre sizes are people running with lowered bays on 14's?

cheers :) heres the bus:

Sell it and by an early
Only joking, providing you dont slam it i think you should be ok on standard front tyre size (this is 1 of the many things i'm also considering), just remember that the speedo runs from the front wheels (think its the passenger side) so any adjustment of tyres size will effect your speedo (OK if you've got a Sat nav for MPH though)

try this thread. i was in the same boat as you til i found this lol.

You mean they still made bays after 1972 , I thought they made them square things...

there are so manty better rims than steels. get some 15" alloys, 4inch drop and early or late it will look the dogs dangles

Cheers for the help :) Been looking at the photos on that link, im thinking 2 spline drop at the back with the original 185 r14 tyres on the rear, then 185/65/14's on the front with front axle adjusters so the top of the tyre just sits under the arch :p Cant afford alloys this year, they will be next years purchase :D

Cheers for that! :) Nice ride, that looks exactly the sorta height im after, im a mechanic by trade but not really confident in to be doing the work, been quoted around £350 if i supply front adjusters, that sound about right?

that was with a company called bus station that i found on google, its abit of a drive for me though so will have a look around now i know a rough price. theres a place called beetle link a short drive from me, wonder if they would do it, though i have heard mixed reports about there work :?

mark at the bus station knows his stuff. he specialises in slamming buses, so knows what he's doing. he's a nice chap also.

Had mine lowered recently, £350 for beem to be turned and £450 with adjusters seems to be the going rate, did a lot of hunting arround.

Ben :)

if it was mine id paint the stock rims bright white and lower it on lower profile tyres. late bays look cool on stock rims.
