OK, I know the bus is a 68 Westy, has all the correct 68 bits but can someone give me a clue what the numbers are stamped onto the small i.d. plate (the one below the green californian plate on the offside wheelarch).

I can just about make out 'manufactured by Westfaila werke k.g.' but the rest of the writing is not legible.

I have three numbers stamped into the plate, from top to bottom they are;
2151
1968
15842

Can anyone shed any light on this for me please?
Thanks
Ben

From memory these are the plates applied when the conversion was done by Westfalia with a serial number and date, presume you have looked at your chassis plate behind the drivers seat on the bulkhead that has all the m codes on it as this will give more info about your van,

these have a good vin id page.Frankie

http://www.cybertects.co.uk/scirocco/vincheck.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

this worked on my vin.

I'll be bolting the bumpers up today so I'll check the VIN and get it posted up when I've checked the Samba.com.

Thanks for the suggestions.
