Was told 34 Pict 3. Now not sure now.

Looks like it says 31PIC on my (small) screen. These are for 1300 engines if my memory serves. The 34PIC not only has a bigger choke, 34 as opposed to 31 but the 3rd generation has a power valve for the extra fuel required for the 1600 motor

Its a 31 fitted as standard to single port 1600 engines, Pict 34 fitted when it went to a twin port.
 
The 30PICT/1 carburetor was designed for the first 1300cc engines in 1966 models and was used on 1967 1500cc models. Then came the 30PICT/2 in 1968/1969 for the 1300/1500cc engines and the 30PICT/3 for the US-only 1970 1600cc single-port engine. These all have the same sized venturi (24mm), which allows a larger airflow than the earlier 28 series - which suits the larger capacities better. The /1, /2 and /3 30PICTs have increasingly complicated fuel circuits for better mixture control. Any of the 30 series (30PICT/1, 30PICT/2, 30PICT/3 and modern replacement H30/31) will work fine with the 1500cc and 1600cc engines.

You can use SOME 30PICT/1 carburettors on a 1600cc engine. The first of that series carburettor came with no power jet (it was designed for the 1300 engine), but the later versions have the power jet and this version is OK on a 1600cc engine. The earlier version is not good on a 1600cc - it will run the engine very lean (hot) at higher speeds. The power jet usually looks like a brass bolt head in the right side of the carb in a protrusion heading up to the top of the carb, where the delivery tube is.

The 1970 1600cc has a B in front of the engine number, and was a single port engine. The first dual port 1600s came in 1971, and have a double letter in front of the engine number, AF or AD for that year.
 
I'm running a new 30/31 on my twin port 1600. They come with a 120 jet for 1300 engines and a 130 for 1500 and above. My'n runs sweet on it.
 
Mine looks new ish and it is a twin port 1600 AD motor. Done nearly 1000 miles this summer so
I shall not complain. I was asking as I would like to get rid of the flooding problem when parking/stopping in the nose up position and then will not start. Thought about a rebuild /clean up kit during the winter.

basically its a bag of **** i bought one new and it done the same as yours,get a real one

new tablets thats what they make you do ozz :roll: but there may be i should do more of it :mrgreen:
 
It's a Brosol H30/31 designed as a replacement for PICT 30 & 31 on single port engines.

It won't fit directly on to a tp manifold but you can buy an adaptor.
I run these carbs on my 1500 sp engines and they are fine. You will need to rejet the carb for a 1600 engine as they are supplied with jets that are a bit too lean. They run well on 1600 tp engines when rejetted.
