i have just baught a Pioneer DAB head unit in the sales (part of my xmas present) anyway it has no speakers or arial. My question is, i am 45 so not into mega base and allowing the street to know i am coming from a million miles away but i do want a good sound. i want to set two speakers under the front dash of the van and two under the rear seats is that ok? also what speakers should i get, not into throwing ton of cash at this but want good sound. cheers

That's pretty much the set up I've got and I get good sound from it :D

I've got some 5" Kenwood 2-way speakers in the kick panel and a pair of 6x9" Kenwood 3-way speakers in the panel under my rock and roll bed, just running the lot off my head unit at the mo and sounds good, but when I've done an alternator conversion I will be slipping a small amp in, to give it a bit more power :D

My bus has a crappy head unit in it and only runs 2 6x9 speakers - one in each door. Despite the door panels coming loose and water EVERYWHERE, I still get plenty of volume while I'm driving along. Modern stereos nowadays all tend to have decent 4 channel amplifiers built in, meaning you can run 4 decent speakers with ease without the need for an external amplifier.

If you want to keep things as cheap as possible, just buy yourself 2 6x9 speakers for around £40 - £50 and mount them in the front kickpanel or doors and you will have plenty of volume, two extra speakers in the back will certainly help but can be added later with ease if you are not satisfied with just the two. These speakers should all just plug in with standard speaker wires, no need for any kryptonite-coated fibre-optic carbon fibre nonsense for the discerning gentleman!

cheers gents, i will look at buying speakers on Monday. Dont know what the rush is the van is still in pieces and wont be ready for a while.
